    || The Da Vinci Code & Opus Dei ||

    about

    By

This is John Wauck's page, a corner of || The Da Vinci Code & Opus Dei || where categories and time are relatively forgotten. Just a page all about John Wauck.

Want the short version? John Wauck is an American priest of Opus Dei. A native of Chicago, he studied Renaissance history and literature at Harvard University and philosophy at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, where he has lived for the last ten years. He teaches a course on literature and Christian faith at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (in 2005, this course was aired as a 13-part television series, called "A Mirror of the Soul" on EWTN) and organizes an international seminar entitled Poetics and Christianity. He has also lectured at the Roman campuses of the University of Dallas, Gordon College (Orvieto), and St. Thomas More College. He has written for many publications, including The American Scholar, The Christian Science Monitor, and The New Criterion, and appeared frequently as a television commentator on matters dealing with the Catholic Church. Before his priestly ordination, he worked as an editor of The Human Life Review and as a speechwriter for the Attorney General of the United States, William Barr, and for the Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania, Robert P. Casey. Read on to hear the long version.

      Fr. Wauck–
I’ve just discovered your website and have not yet read much of it, but it is a welcome sight/site. I’m not a member of Opus Dei but have had a long association with various members and their works (including teaching at Hawthorn School for Girls in Toronto over several years). I have been working on a comic take on this execrable novel, called “Howlers of the Da Vinci Code”, but have been unable to devote enough time to get it ready for distribution before the film is released. However, it has been fun so I’ll probably finish it. In the meantime, I composed “The Da Vinci Code Pledge for Thin-Skinned Christians” which can be read on my weblog, http://www.winefredswell.blogspot.com. It’s mostly serious, but puts the basic issues in perspective. I hope to do a thorough reading of your website soon — keep up the good work. (I sometimes think Opus Dei is being far too nice about this whole business.)

      Padre,

I think I’ve discovered an even LARGER scandal than Opus Dei/Da Vinci Code: A priest of The Work was formerly employed by a DEMOCRATIC governor.

Sweet Jesus. NOW its all over.

      Dear Fr.

Your web-site is great. I think you are doing a great work of evangelization trying to explain the truth against the great abomination of Da Vince Code. May the Catholic Truth always prevail!

      Dear John:

All is well here. I at times enter and see what’s going on in your web-site. It might be an interesting idea to do something on the great churches and fabulous pictures …. of Our Lady in Russia and the CIS.

Da Vinci is certainly in Russian and lots of people have read. Anyway, I will do some thinking and then maybe suggest an article that deals with “behind the iron curtain” issues.

Also, I would highly suggest that you download the cyrillic alphabet software so that your russian readers can respond in Russian and get this whole part of the world involved.

      Cheers,

      Javier

      No need to publish this.

      Dear Father Wauck,

      Greetings from garden city Singapore!

I am a 40 year old Singaporean who has been a christian at a pentecostal church since birth and I read the Opus Dei website with great excitement mainly because I am in the midst of planning some seminars that will help people understand GOD better, bring godliness into their daily lives and help them draw closer to our LORD Jesus Christ. These ideas seem to be in line with what Opus Dei’s objectives.

I would like to know if Opus Dei is already in Singapore and if not are there any plans for your organization to do so?

      Looking forward to your reply.

      Sincerely,
      Andrew Teo

I came across your website in a search. Your name is familiar. By chance did you attend Mary Seat of Wisdom Grade School in Park Ridge, IL during the 1970s?

Thanks for asking. I’m told that EWTN is planning to put the series on DVD, but I’m not sure if that’s already been done or not. You might want to drop a note directly to them in Alabama.

      Best wishes and prayers,
      Fr. John.

      Dear Father Wauck,

I have been enjoying your series “The Mirror of the Soul” very much. Are there any plans for a book? Videos and DVDs and CDs are all very well, but it would be nice to sit down with a book and quietly meditate on the poems and your comments.

      Keep up the good work.

      dear Father Wauck,

A postscript to my email above:

If not a book in the near future, perhaps a reading list to tide one over?

And what translation of “The Dream of the Rood” would you recommend?

      Thank you.

The Vatican is poised to commit yet another atrocity against The Knights Templar by raking in over $6.5 million in publishing royalties from the release of secret documents that exonerate the order of charges of heresy.

The Vatican stands to make millions from the sale of designer books that include documentation from its secret archives that the Knights Templar had been cleared of charges of heresy before Pope Clement V later succumbed to royal persuasion and joined King Philip IV of France on a killing rampage in 1307 that all but wiped out the order and suppressed spiritual truths.

The limited-edition book, published by Scrinium publishing house, which prints documents from the Vatican’s Secret Archives, sells for a whopping $8,400.

Only 800 are being published. The pope got one and all but 300 of the remaining 799 have been reserved for sheiks, libraries, individual collectors, Templar associations and cultural organizations around the world.

Making millions by capitalizing on the intrigue surrounding Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code certainly is not new.

As one web log commenter quipped:

“Even the Vatican is cashing in on The Da Vinci Code.”

But there is something uglier and more sinister at play here than simply grabbing a bite of the Da Vinci cash cow.

What other organization could so blatantly cash in on it own heinous crimes and get away with it?

It’s akin to the Third Reich resurfacing with copies of the diaries of Joseph Goebbels and getting paid millions to publish them.

What is it that allows the Vatican to operate unchecked and above reproach?

Most certainly this latest papal abomination clearly demonstrates that greed continues to be the driving force that governs the Vatican.

But what is not widely known is that the timing of the Vatican’s announcement coincides with the release of ancient truths about the Knights Templar by the order’s direct descendants.

Three days before the Vatican chose to present its designer book to the world, Guardians of Ancient Knowledge, direct descendants of The Knights Templar, released long hidden Truths in a video available to the public, free online.

The Vatican’s move is a calculated attempt to direct attention towards its lies and away from the true reason the Knights Templar were murdered.
Guardians of Ancient Knowledge reveal that seven hundred years ago, a group of spiritual adepts comprised of Knights Templar, Cistercian monks and Sisters of the Black Madonna were kidnapped and tortured to death to extract information about the priceless wealth of the Ark of the Covenant.
A greedy French king and a demonic Christian pope conspired in 1307 to steal the Knights Templar’s wealth, but the Ark had been moved from France to Scotland in 1305. Inquisition torture techniques did result in the confiscation of many priceless manuscripts, maps and books, including those about the true history of Jesus, his wife Mary and their children.
A free 9-minute video on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLRYQk4rcWY gives a preview of a special DVD movie being released in early 2008 to benefit AIDS orphans.
The video can also be seen on Live Video at http://www.livevideo.com/video/08EAB944D46942499634CB5ADE10E894/knights-templar-inner-circle.aspx?m_tkc=8007057
This special benefit DVD explains hidden secrets about the man called Jesus, his wife Mary Magdalene, their 3 children, the Knights Templar, the Essenes, Druids and much more.
The free 9 minute video on YouTube and Live Video contains:
‚Ä¢ Names of two 2nd century books with “the true name of Jesus Christ”
‚Ä¢ Some of the forgeries issued by “Devious UnHoly Avignon Popes, 1309-1377″
‚Ä¢ Details on the Comparison of “Whole Brain” and so called “Normal” Thinking‚Äù
      • Description of how Jesus completed his Physical Body Ascension to Light later in life
‚Ä¢ Ancient exercise, left to us by Jesus and Mary, to determine their children’s descendants
